About the Author
P. J. Benjamin is the creative force behind The Firmament, the extended narrative universe in which he writes. A native Washingtonian, he lives in Tacoma, Wa with his lovely wife Katie and their neurotic cat Moona. After spending over a decade in the Culinary Arts field, graduating from Le Cordon Bleu and working restaurants across the Northwest, he began to shift his professional focus to a deeper passion, that of writing. After years work, writing excessively in his limited free time, he finally settled on a body of work he intends to pursue. And so The Firmament was created. Aside from his literary aspirations and cooking he maintains multiple hobbies, including board game collecting and developing, blade and armor smithing. He spend his remaining free time learning new things with his wife and playing tabletop RPGs with his friends.
Any discussion on the character and passions of P.J. Benjamin would be wholly incomplete without a significant mentioning of his faith. A Christian from the age of 5, P.J. Benjamin grew up mainly in the Presbyterian church, even meeting his wife at a Presbyterian Summer camp where he would later work. Despite the very real spiritual depth of his church and family, he became dissatisfied by the lack of real theological depth in his life. To put it another way, he knew what he believed, and believed it passionately, but lacked any sort of learning on why or where such stances belonged in scripture. When he encountered Reformed theology (specifically Calvinism), first from his older brothers church, and more crucially from Wayne Grudem’s “Systematic Theology”, his entire view of God and the scriptures opened and swallowed him whole. There has been no greater influence on his writing then his studies of the bible, and its truths are laced into all of his works.
